Dr. David Sacks is a psychotherapist, performance consultant, writer, and coach. An alumnus of Stanford (B.A., M.A.), and Florida State (Ph. D.) Universities, David has been a licensed psychologist since 2007, practicing in Tennessee and Florida (via telehealth format). He completed his internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the Vanderbilt University Counseling Center.
In addition to being the founder and owner of Nashville Performance and Psychology, David is the Chief Clinical Officer for Mindflow and wrestling coach at Hume-Fogg High School and Nashville MMA. His forthcoming book - co-authored with Ben Askren and Joe De Sena – is Extreme Balance: Paradoxical Principles That Make You a Champion.
In private-practice full-time since 2018, David previously held faculty positions at Florida State, Flagler College, Nova Southeastern University, Ross University School of Medicine, and Vanderbilt. He has been published in a variety of academic journals and has presented on his research and clinical work locally, nationally, and internationally.
As both a therapist and consultant, David helps others to make specific adjustments in their ways of operating and, importantly, to understand the “bigger picture” to achieve lasting results. He uses a humanistic, strengths-based, and scientifically-informed approach, delivered with empathy, to help his clients learn, grow, and change.
David has worked with thousands of students and clients, including award-winning scholars, professional athletes, executives, musicians, service members, and other diverse individuals and groups from all walks of life. When he’s not helping clients achieve their goals, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, participating in grappling sports, and fishing from his kayak.
